Ensuring that your company is able to respond to any event that might cause disruption to normal operations or damage your reputation is all about being prepared. Examples of such events include power failures, IT virus attacks, fire, strikes etc. Business Continuity is the management process through which your preparation can be achieved.

  • In 2008, 40 per cent of businesses suffered disruption due to a loss of IT;

  • Other key sources of disruption were extreme weather, loss of people, loss of telecommunications, and utility disruptions; and

  • Despite recognising the threat posed by diseases such as influenza, 53 per cent of businesses had no action plans to help them cope during a pandemic.
